Sexual dimorphism in skin immunity is mediated by an androgen-ILC2-dendritic cell axis

NIAID researchers have found that male mice have weaker immune responses to infection and microbial colonization of the skin than female mice because male sex hormones reduce the density and activation of key immune cells in skin. The findings are published in the journal Science.
