New frontiers for health, space tech leadersin SA

Posted by in categories: business, finance, government, robotics/AI, space

Two of SA’s most promising female technology entrepreneurs have this year raised millions from astute local and international investors for their global-impact businesses in healthcare and space.

Presagen, co-founded by Dr Michelle Perugini, raised a total of $4.5 million from Jungle Capital group in Australia and US private investor 3Lines Venture Capital, with the SA Government also pitching in.

The funding will help commercialise its Life Whisperer artificial intelligence (AI) platform. Life Whisperer uses AI to identify healthy embryos in in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) with the aim of improving pregnancy outcomes for infertile couples globally.

Antivirals for the Gut? Study Points To Potential New Gut (and Brain) Treatment

Posted by in categories: biotech/medical, government, neuroscience

A Gulf War Illness study finds a connection between dysregulated gut flora, leaky gut and neuroinflammation – and a new way to potentially resolve it.

It’s nice when the government has your back. After years of neglect, the federal government finally appears, at least regarding medical research, to have Gulf War Illness (GWI) veterans’ backs.

From mind control, brainwashing and monsters — theories claim Stranger Things happened in REAL LIFE in a secret government project

Posted by in categories: computing, food, government, mobile phones, neuroscience, quantum physics, time travel

In my humble opinion, this was very real but is still based on science. But quantum mechanics would democratize this technology rather than needing a human interface. I think in the right hands and doing good it comes essentially do so much even materializing water or food endlessly using psionic abilities. Really quantum mechanics could lead to even materializing a cup of coffee from a computer. This is probably the most groundbreaking knowledge because quantum mechanics can prove that this is real. There are still ethical problems with this technology but the possibilities make this essentially a cheaper form of a replicator than essentially a Higgs boson one may be using a lot less energy. If it was fully understood it could allow for real psionic abilities for everyone maybe using a device perhaps even with a limiter for safety or even air-gapped so it is just on a smartphone. One day you could essentially just press a button on a smartphone and a cup of coffee would materialize or your favorite beverage, not just a uber or teleportation but essentially real materializing which some say that has been used possibly since the founding of the planet earth based on mythology seen from all over the planet earth.

SPINE-chilling stories about the sinister goings-on at Camp Hero air force base in Montauk have long been the stuff of local legend.

Since the Seventies, tall tales have surrounded the derelict facility in Long Island, New York.

The US is in danger of losing its global leadership in AI

Posted by in categories: economics, government, health, military, robotics/AI

Some argue that only a “Sputnik” moment will wake the American people and government to act with purpose, just as the 1957 Soviet launch of a satellite catalyzed new educational and technological investments. We disagree. We have been struck by the broad, bipartisan consensus in America to “get AI right” now. We are in a rare moment when challenge, urgency, and consensus may just align to generate the energy we need to extend our AI leadership and build a better future.

Congress asked us to serve on a bipartisan commission of tech leaders, scientists, and national security professionals to explore the relationship between artificial intelligence (AI) and national security. Our work is not complete, but our initial assessment is worth sharing now: in the next decade, the United States is in danger of losing its global leadership in AI and its innovation edge. That edge is a foundation of our economic prosperity, military power and ultimately the freedoms we enjoy.

As we consider the leadership stakes, we are struck by AI’s potential to propel us towards many imaginable futures. Some hold great promise; others are concerning. If past technological revolutions are a guide, the future will include elements of both.

World must prepare for biological weapons that target ethnic groups based on genetics, says Cambridge University

Posted by in categories: bioengineering, biotech/medical, existential risks, genetics, government, robotics/AI

Biological weapons could be built which target individuals in a specific ethnic group based on their DNA, a report by the University of Cambridge has warned.

Researchers from Cambridge’s Centre for the Study of Existential Risk (CSER) said the government was failing to prepare for ‘human-driven catastrophic risks’ that could lead to mass harm and societal collapse.

In recent years advances in science such as genetic engineering, and artificial intelligence (AI) and autonomous vehicles have opened the door to a host of new threats.

National Security Priority: Securing America’s Electric Grid

Posted by in categories: business, cybercrime/malcode, economics, energy, government

Energy is a critical resource that powers our homes and businesses, and also supports every facet of the U.S. economy and our nation’s security. As technology advances and we become more connected, the likelihood that there will be a successful cyber or physical attack on critical infrastructure increases.

This month we recognize National Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience Month, which is a great time to reinforce that our nation’s electric companies are working across the industry and with our government partners to protect the energy grid and ensure that customers have access to the safe and reliable energy they need. We also are focusing on strategies to mitigate the potential impact of an attack and to accelerate recovery should an incident occur.

We know that cyberattacks constantly are evolving and increasing in sophistication. As the vice president for security and preparedness at the Edison Electric Institute (EEI), the association that represents all U.S. investor-owned electric companies, I have a deep appreciation for how any threat to the energy grid endangers our communities and the national and economic security of our country.

U.S. Government Makes Surprise Move To Secure Power Grid From Cyberattacks

As the threat of cyber-attacks on critical infrastructure such as power grids ramps up, the Securing Energy Infrastructure Act (SEIA) is taking technology back to its retro roots. But is it a good idea?
