With Starlink now profitable, SpaceX’s need for launches is now virtually infinite. So they just got permission to create a fourth tower for Falcon 9 / Falcon Heavy which means that at least one more drone ship is under construction.

Col. Rob Long, Space Launch Delta 30 commander, signed a statement of support on April 21, 2023, granting SpaceX permission to lease Space Launch Complex 6 (SLC-6) for Falcon rocket launches.

SLC-6 previously supported the Delta IV vehicle family and has remained vacant since the final Delta IV Heavy launch on Sept. 24, 2022.

Keep your eye on the prize, but meanwhile don’t lose sight of other nifty opportunities too. What am I talking about? During the famous Gold Rush era, eager prospectors sought the dreamy riches of unearthed gold. Turns out that very few actually struck it rich by discovering those prized gold nuggets. You might be surprised to know that while panning for gold, there was a possibility of finding other precious metals. The erstwhile feverish desire to get gold would sometimes overpower the willingness to mine silver, mercury, and other ores that were readily seen while searching for gold.

It all has to do with data, particularly data mined or scanned from the Internet that is then used principally to data train generative AI apps.

OpenAI’s ChatGPT and its successor GPT-4 would not exist if it were not for all the data training undertaken to get the AI apps into shape for doing Natural Language Processing (NLP) and performing interactive conversations with humans. The data training entailed scanning various portions of the Internet, see my explanation at the link here. In the case of text-to-text or text-to-essay generative AI, the mainstay of ChatGPT, all kinds of text were scanned to ferret out patterns of how humans use words.

Since its launch in November 2022, ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, has been causing quite a stir because of the software’s surprisingly human and accurate responses.

The auto-generative system reached a record-breaking 100 million monthly active users only two months after launching. However, while its popularity continues to grow, the current discussion within the cybersecurity industry is whether this type of technology will aid in making the internet safer or play right into the hands of those trying to cause chaos.

According to Hackaday, “BioBootloader,” a programmer, created the program that can grant Python programs “regenerative healing abilities.” The program takes advantage of OpenAI’s GPT-4 multimodal AI language model, released in March and now accessible to ChatGPT Plus users and beta testers via an API. It performs text-processing activities, including authoring, language translation, and programming, using its “knowledge” of billions of documents, books, and webpages scraped from the internet.

SpaceX just did their second launch of V2 Mini satellites. Their first launch was two months ago and some satellites were lost as their new tech didn’t work on all satellites. Well, SpaceX has solved the bugs, and launched a second batch. Once the bugs are 100% solved, all future Starlink launches will only contain these new satellites.

These higher capacity satellites service about 33% more customers per pound of satellite than the V1.5 Starlink satellites.

An international team of researchers from Leibniz University Hannover (Germany), the University of Twente (Netherlands), and the start-up company QuiX Quantum has presented an entangled quantum light source fully integrated for the first time on a chip. The results of the study were published in the journal Nature Photonics.

“Our breakthrough allowed us to shrink the source size by a factor of more than 1,000, allowing reproducibility, stability over a longer time, scaling, and potentially mass-production. All these characteristics are required for real-world applications such as quantum processors,” says Prof. Dr. Michael Kues, head of the Institute of Photonics, and board member of the Cluster of Excellence PhoenixD at Leibniz University Hannover.

Quantum bits (qubits) are the basic building blocks of quantum computers and the quantum internet. Quantum light sources generate light quanta (photons) that can be used as quantum bits. On-chip photonics has become a leading platform for processing optical quantum states as it is compact, robust, and allows to accommodate and arrange many elements on a single chip. Here, light is directed on the chip through extremely compact structures, which are used to build photonic quantum computing systems. These are already accessible today through the cloud. Scalably implemented, they could solve tasks that are inaccessible to conventional computers due to their limited computing capacities. This superiority is referred to as quantum advantage.

Chinese hackers could also attack the networks of companies that provide services to the military or to critical infrastructure operators, holding their systems hostage for ransom payments.

“If you get the right supply chain, it can have a lot of effects against a lot of targets,” said John Hultquist, head of Mandiant Intelligence Analysis at Google Cloud.

World’s biggest search engine threatened by competition from Microsoft’s Bing.

Google is synonymous with the internet. Millions throng to the search engine every day. From catching up on what’s happening in the world to discovering how to dye your cat green, Google has the answer to everything.

So, it was only a matter of time before the tech giant integrated its widely used search engine with artificial intelligence. This was inevitable, with almost all major tech companies dashing to cash in on the expanding AI space. It has already launched an AI-powered chatbot called Bard, similar to ChatGPT.
